Once Upon a Time in 1952... 📚
Picture this: Melbourne, 1952. Post-war Australia was buzzing with optimism, and three unlikely friends - Archibald "Archie" Wellington, a retired banker with a penchant for bow ties; Beatrice "Bea" Thornfield, a former theatre actress with the most melodious laugh; and Charles "Charlie" O'Malley, an ex-railway conductor who could tell stories for hours - decided to open the most charming lottery parlour Australia had ever seen.
"We wanted to bring a touch of class to the lottery business," Beatrice would often say, adjusting her pearl necklace. "Not just numbers on a slip of paper, but an experience, darling! A proper experience!"
Their first customer was Mrs. Gladys Pemberton, age 72, who bought ticket number 001 for sixpence. She won three pounds that very week and declared our parlour "absolutely divine!" Word spread faster than butter on warm toast, and soon we had queues of distinguished folk eager for their chance at fortune.
Today, seven decades later, we still maintain that same vintage charm. Our tickets are hand-designed, our service is personal, and every winner gets a handwritten congratulations note - just like the good old days!
